Aspeq’s team of professional invigilators support candidate success
Aspeq has over 120 invigilators globally to staff its more than 65 exam centres, spanning across Asia-Pacific and the UK.
Aspeq Head of Candidate Services, Naomi Baker, who looks after Aspeq’s team of professional invigilators, says that it’s a rewarding role critical to candidates’ success.
“Invigilators are the face of Aspeq. They are who our candidates interact with when they sit their exams, so they are a key part of candidates’ exam experience.”
Invigilators also have an important role in maintaining the integrity of exams by being physically present while candidates are taking the exam.
Invigilators ensure candidates understand the rules and requirements around the exam, and are constantly monitoring the room to ensure protocols are followed.
“It’s a fine art to be able to move around the room so that your presence is keenly felt without being a distraction for candidates,” says Naomi.
While becoming an invigilator doesn’t require a particular background or experience, it involves a comprehensive recruitment process that ensures good character and the right temperament.
“Our invigilators have to have high integrity and ability to follow strict policies and procedures, but they also have a welcoming, calming demeanour that puts candidates at ease,” Naomi says.
“Exams can be a very stressful experience, and candidates have spent a lot of time and money to be there. For some candidates, it can feel like their whole life depends on the exam in front of them. Our invigilators understand this, and go to work with the goal of giving candidates the best exam experience possible.”
