Yes. You will need to register on the applicable Candidate Portal before you can book an exam. If you select "Book an assessment" on the homepage you will be able to select the applicable organisation. Keep your login details safe — you will use the same account to manage all future bookings and to access your results.
Yes, rescheduling and cancellation can be managed through the Candidate Portal. Policies on fees and deadlines for changes vary depending on your exam type and the organisation that administers it. Check the specific terms and conditions when booking, and act well in advance of your exam date to avoid forfeiting fees. Medical certificates or evidence of extenuating circumstances may be considered for late changes.
If you fail to attend your scheduled exam, your exam fee will generally not be refunded or credited. If you have an emergency, contact Aspeq or your training organisation as soon as possible.
You must bring valid physical photo identification, photocopies are not accepted. Acceptable forms of ID may include a passport, driver's licence, or another government-issued photo ID. Check your booking confirmation for any specific ID requirements for your exam. Do not bring unauthorised materials — check your booking confirmation for a list of permitted materials. Unauthorised material will be removed from your possession by the invigilator.
Arrive at the exam centre with plenty of time before your scheduled start — 30 minutes early. This allows time for identity checks, seating, and for the invigilator to explain the rules and get you logged in. Late arrivals may not be permitted to sit the exam.
When you arrive, the invigilator will greet you and carry out an identity check. You will need to present your photo ID so that the invigilator can verify you are the person who made the booking. Once verified, you will be directed to your seat, logged into the exam system, and given instructions on the exam rules before you begin.
Most Aspeq exams are delivered digitally through a secure online portal. You will use a purpose-built, locked-down laptop provided at the exam centre — you do not need to bring your own device. Some exam types may include written components requiring manual marking; your booking confirmation will outline the format for your specific exam.
No. The laptops used for Aspeq exams are locked down so that you can only access the exam portal itself. No external websites, documents, or applications are accessible. Any authorised reference materials specific to your exam type will be provided on your booking confirmation.
Yes. A trained invigilator will be present throughout your exam. Invigilators are there to support you, explain the rules, manage your session, and maintain exam integrity. They undergo strict recruitment and comprehensive training — including in digital exam systems and security protocols — before supervising any exam.
A trained exam invigilator is someone who has received formal instruction on how to properly oversee an examination to ensure it is conducted fairly, securely, and according to the rules. Their role is more than just “watching the room”. They are trained in specific procedures to maintain the integrity of the exam.
Key aspects include:
- Understanding exam rules and regulations – They know what is allowed and what isn’t, including materials students can bring, time limits, and conduct expectations.
- Monitoring students – They actively supervise to prevent cheating, misconduct, or other irregularities.
- Handling irregularities – If a student behaves inappropriately, has a medical issue, or breaks exam rules, the invigilator knows how to respond appropriately and document it.
- Managing logistics – They help with setup and breakdown of the exam room, distribution and collection of papers or devices.
- ID Verification – They validate ID on arrival at the venue, ensuring the correct student is sitting the correct exam.
A trained exam invigilator ensures that every candidate has a fair, standardised, and secure testing environment.
Alert the invigilator immediately. They are trained to handle technical problems and will work to resolve the issue. Aspeq's systems are designed to be robust and reliable, but the on-site invigilator is your first point of contact if anything goes wrong.
Aspeq takes exam integrity very seriously and employs multiple layers of security:
- Invigilators are trained to recognise signs of dishonest behaviour and monitor the room continuously, though discreetly.
- Identity is verified on arrival to prevent impersonation.
- Exam laptops are locked down — only the exam portal is accessible.
- Exam results are transmitted immediately to Aspeq's servers via a secure router, so no results data is held locally.
- At the end of each session, laptops are securely stored.
- Aspeq conducts regular audits of all exam centres.
- Unannounced 'mystery shopper' visits by Aspeq staff ensure venues are operating to standard.
Any attempt to cheat, bring in unauthorised materials, or misrepresent your identity is a serious breach of exam conditions and may result in disqualification, a ban from future sittings, and reporting to the relevant regulatory authority. Your results could also be invalidated.
Aspeq's questions are developed by contracted Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) — industry professionals and specialists approved by the relevant regulatory authority. Questions go through a structured review and approval process using Aspeq's Quadrant system, which ensures only validated, high-quality questions make it into your exam. Questions are regularly reviewed for ongoing accuracy and relevance. More information on our question banks here.
Aspeq operates more than 65 exam centres across the Asia-Pacific region and the UK, including 37 sites across all Australian states and territories, as well as centres throughout New Zealand. Venues are located in both major cities and rural or remote areas, so most students can find a centre within a reasonable distance. More information on our venues here.
Each venue is assessed against a strict compliance checklist before being approved. Aspeq evaluates factors including noise levels, parking, accessibility, internet connectivity, space, and overall comfort. Venues are regularly audited to ensure they continue to meet standards, with additional unannounced visits from Aspeq staff as part of ongoing quality management. More information on our venues here.
Yes. Whether you sit your exam in a capital city or a remote regional town, Aspeq enforces the same rigorous processes, security measures, and candidate experience standards at every centre. No matter the location, you can expect the same level of fairness and professionalism.
For exams with automated marking, results are available immediately after you finish — you do not need to wait. This means you can move on to the next stage of your training, licensing application, or study without delay. For exams that require manual marking by a Subject Matter Expert, results will be provided as promptly as possible. Check your booking confirmation for details specific to your exam type.
Your results are accessible through the Candidate Portal. Log in with your account credentials to view your outcome after your exam is complete.
You can apply for an examination review through the Candidate Portal. A review request asks Aspeq to check that your exam was delivered, marked, and recorded correctly. Note that a review is not the same as re-marking an exam based on your disagreement with an answer — it is an audit of process and accuracy.
Your results may be shared with the organisation or regulatory authority that administers the qualification you are working towards — for example, your university, training provider, or industry regulator. This is a standard part of the licensing and qualification process. See Aspeq's privacy policy for full details on how your data is handled.
When you register and sit an exam, Aspeq collects personal information including your name, contact details, and identification information. Financial information provided during payment is used only for processing your transaction and is kept securely. Your exam performance data is used to generate your results and for reporting purposes.
Aspeq holds ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System) certification, meaning its information security practices meet internationally recognised standards. Exam results are never stored on-site — they are transmitted immediately to Aspeq's secure servers. Access to candidate data within Aspeq's systems is controlled through role-based portals, ensuring that only authorised personnel can access the right information.
Your data may be shared with the regulatory authority or organisation overseeing your qualification, as required for licensing and compliance purposes. Data may also be disclosed where required by law. Aspeq does not use your personal information for unrelated commercial purposes without your consent. Refer to Aspeq's privacy statement — available via the Candidate Portal — for complete details.
Aspeq has Candidate Services teams in both New Zealand and Australia. You can contact them through the 'contact us' section on the candidate portal. The invigilator at your exam centre is also your immediate point of contact for any issues on the day.
Aspeq provides a robust outage and continuity approach to ensure examination integrity and student experience are maintained in the event of exam interruptions, including system faults occurring mid assessment.
- Loss of power in the venue. All machines will be wired for power, if this fails the laptops will run on it's battery for a long as possible.
- Loss of internet in the venue. As long as the exam has been downloaded, no internet connectivity is required for the student to finish the exam. This will be saved on the device and auto uploaded when internet connectivity is restored.
- Full exam outage at the data centre side. If the first data centre goes out, it will automatically connect to the next data centre. The students will not be affected if the exam is downloaded. This will have the look and feel of a connectivity outage. Uploading will resume when the new data centre reconnects.
Key continuity and integrity controls include:
- Locked down examination environment. The exam system enforces a fully locked down environment for the duration of the examination. Students are prevented from navigating away from the examination delivery platform, accessing external websites, Generative AI tools, operating system functions, or other applications. This ensures examination integrity is maintained even during disruption or recovery scenarios.
- Controlled resumption and auditability. All interruptions, pauses, resumptions, and recoveries are controlled and auditable, providing traceability for review. Examination state, timing, and response data remain protected throughout the interruption and recovery process.
Through these mechanisms, we ensure that assessment interruptions do not compromise examination integrity, student outcomes, or defensibility, while supporting reliable continuation and completion of examinations.
Yes and Aspeq actively encourages it. At every exam centre you can access a feedback card or scan a QR code to submit your comments. Aspeq also runs quarterly surveys to all candidates. Feedback is taken seriously: past responses have directly led to improvements in everything from booking usability to seating comfort.
