ASPEQ Delivers for Financial Advisers

The New Zealand government introduced new requirements under the Financial Advisers Act 2008 for the authorisation of financial advisers. As the Industry Training Organisation for financial services it is ETITO's responsibility to enable financial advisers access to assessment for the National Certificate in Financial Services [Financial Advice] [Level 5], the qualification registered on the New Zealand Qualifications framework. This qualification is managed and administered by ETITO.
In December 2009, ASPEQ submitted a proposal to ETITO for the provision of the services to administer computer-based theory exams and the co-ordination of workplace assessments to determine the competence of financial advisers. The ASPEQ proposal was accepted and over the following six months, the company worked with ETITO to develop the software systems, question banks and workplace assessment service requirements for financial advisers. The online booking system was introduced on schedule in April and the exam and workplace assessment services started in July 2010.
ASPEQ provides exam and workplace assessment services to the financial services sector on behalf of ETITO. The services comprise:
- An online exam booking system that featu res a complex set of rules for determining which unit standards are required for the investment, insurance or residential property lending qualifications.
- Computer exam services provi ded through a national network of permanent and mobile exam centres.
- Administration of workplace assessment services conducted by a network of ETITO assessors from the financial sector. These services require the uploading and tracking of candidate information and competence discussions into a central repository for assessment and independent moderation
